Slip and fall accidents, especially those which occur on concrete, asphalt, or other hard surfaces like marble or stone, often result in head injuries. Many people who hit their head in fall down accidents might not know they’ve suffered a head injury. Sometimes, there will be no outward mark and diagnostic tests will look normal.

The vast majority of people who do suffer head injuries in fall down accidents will be just fine after some rest. But for some, a head injury can result in permanent, life-changing cognitive deficits and significant personality changes. What was once a confident, easy-going person can suddenly turn into a withdrawn, depressed individual.

There are many, complex symptoms of a head injury. For instance, people with serious head injuries often find themselves plagued with short term memory loss which affects activities of daily living. Someone who has a head injury may have difficulty with something as basic as going to the grocery store to buy bread and milk. They often forget the one item they went into the store to purchase. Complex work functions, like say for an accountant, may become impossible. These kinds of issues can be devastating and lead to a cycle of anger, frustration and anxiety.

For many folks who suffer a head injury as a result of a fall down accident, Pennsylvania fall down accident law provides the ability to obtain recovery for the injury, treatment and resulting cognitive deficits. Read about proving head injuries in a slip and fall case. Under Pennsylvania tort or negligence law, someone whose negligence causes a fall down accident is liable for all the natural consequences of that negligence, and that includes head injuries.
